Starlights Memories

In the summer of 1980 I was performing at The Starlight Bowl in the musical "L'il Abner." I played Available Jones and I understudied as Abner. It was directed by Peter Palmer, he played Abner in the 1956 film. A donkey was rented for the performances and he lived in a corral behind the Bowl. I owned a camper van and I parked it next to the corral and lived there that summer. That donkey and I became good friends.

I ran a speaker out to the camper from the back door of the dressing rooms and I used that camper as my private dressing room. I could hear my cues from out there.
